Sirius Signal C-1002 eVDSD, Red/Green/Infrared LED warning light

The Sirius Signal C-1002 is a patented LED warning light for boating, providing red, green and infrared light with SOS signal (eVDSD-approved). The LED torch is significantly safer, more user-friendly and longer burning than traditional pyrotechnic torches. Compared to torches providing white light, the C-1002 is up to 5 times brighter. The C-1002 LED torch is completely waterproof and floats so that the light section floats well above the water surface, visible up to 10 nautical miles. The optics of the lens are designed to reflect the light both sideways (for surface rescue vessels) and upwards (for aircraft), ensuring maximum visibility. While traditional pyrotechnic flares offer a burn time of approximately 60 seconds, the C-1002 LED flare burns continuously for up to 6 hours. Compared to a traditional torch, the LED torch has another major advantage in addition to its burn time: it never expires and remains operational with a simple battery change.

Unlike a traditional pyrotechnic torch, the LED torch is safe for the family and the environment. The torch runs on eight CR123A batteries (incl), which are easy to replace yourself. The batteries have a shelf life of up to 10 years (the manufacturer recommends replacing the batteries every 6 years). An emergency whistle and an orange indicator panel are also supplied.

A change in the law that came into force in 2017 allows the replacement of pyrotechnic flares with LED flares for boat equipment in Class 1 (offshore), Class 2 (coastal) and Class 3 (insular), i.e. the classes where the use of flares is mandatory.

Boat distress equipment

The boat must be equipped with the appropriate emergency communication equipment for each class. The equipment is inspected at the annual survey.

Class 1, Offshore class

Quick Start Guide

The lamp is supplied with batteries installed. Turn the switch to the right to turn on the light. Turn off the light by turning the switch to the left.
